Natural Beauty: Butterfly
This is a piece I created in my Printmaking class in the spring semester of 2022. I used the kitchen lithography process, in which I begin with a plastic plate and cover it in foil. After covering in foil, I draw on it with sharpie and pour Cola over it for 15 seconds. The Cola reacts with the sharpie and foil and etches the piece, making it able to be printed. I then go through the normal lithography process of rolling out ink and running it through the printing press, and it comes out looking messier every time you print. This is part of my natural beauty theme that I chose to stick to in this class, and I drew this off of a photo of a butterfly that I had taken, but abstracted it with my own style.
